The Faculty of Geoscience and Geography at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a permanent professorship with civil servant status (grade W3 NBesO) at the Geoscience Center at the earliest possible date (application deadline 30.06.24):

W3 Professorship in Environmental Geosciences (f/m/d)

The successful candidate will represent the field of environmental geosciences in research and teaching across a wide range of subjects and will work on fundamental environmental issues at the interface between humans, natural resources and ecosystems from a geoscientific perspective. Primarily (hydro)geological and (bio)geochemical principles and methods should be applied to the analysis and solution of environmental problems. The professorship focuses on geoscientific problems that are caused by anthropogenic influences at the interface of the lithosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere and are of direct and current social relevance in view of climate change, environmental changes and resource scarcity. This professorship creates a robust basis for applied research, strengthens the research and teaching focus in the area of human-environment-geo-resource interaction and forms a mainstay in the new faculty focus “Georesources and Sustainability”.
